HOW WE DO THINGS....Please carefully read this - it is for the protection of any puppy we produce.
***SORRY, DUE TO INSANE INSURANCE COSTS WE ARE NO LONGER BREEDING. IF WE CAN FIND MORE AFFORDABLE INSURANCE AT SOME POINT IN THE FUTURE WE WILL UPDATE THIS PAGE. You are, however, welcome to contact us with any questions you might have about our dogs or the breed in general.
WE DO NOT SELL OUTDOOR DOGS! We've had a couple of requests for puppies lately from people wanting an outdoor dog. All Crannog Shiloh puppies are sold as family members and must live indoors with the family. We respect your right to raise a puppy as you choose however if you decide to purchase from us we require the puppy lives indoors as a family member both during puppyhood and for it's adult life. We also require a fenced yard to keep your puppy/adult dog safe - no chains or tie outs! Shilohs are a large breed dog not suited for apartment living. We will not place any of our puppies in a home that does not have a fenced yard - this is not negotiable, sorry. We will require photos of your fencing prior to approving any application. If you live in a strata we will require written verification from the strata that the by-laws allow for dogs up to 31" at the withers and will also need verification that strata rules allow you to have a fenced area for your dog.
Another big NO for us is dogs travelling in the back of a pick-up truck. If you intend to transport your dog this way please don't apply for one of our puppies. It's one thing to have them in a fully enclosed and properly ventilated canopy when the weather is not too hot or cold but never in an open box even if tethered. You wouldn't put a child in the back of a pick-up travelling down a road so why would anybody think it's safe to put a dog there? Sorry if this offends some people however we feel very strongly about these things and want the best quality of life for the puppies we've bred.
Pricing and Guarantee:
We sell all of our puppies for the same price - contact us for current price. All puppies are sold on non-breeding (spay/neuter) contracts. Should you wish to have a Show/Breeding puppy please contact us in advance for more details as a different contract will apply.
Guarantee:
We guarantee our puppies against:
Severe Hip Dysplasia as certified by Penn Hip or OFA at age of 24 months - reports from Penn Hip and OFA must be submitted to the breeder. This specifically excludes hip dysplasia caused by environmental factors or mishandling by the buyer. The dog will remain with the buyer and the decision on how to handle the hip dysplasia will be made by the buyer and their veterinarian at the buyer's expense. The seller will provide either a replacement puppy from the next available litter or refund of original purchase price at the seller's discretion if confirmation of the condition has been supported by the above documentation. i.e. OFA and Penn Hip reports.
Genetic/Congenital defects diagnosed by 1 year of age resulting in death, supported by necropsy performed by a licensed veterinary pathologist.

Parentage:
We guarantee that all Crannog Shiloh Shepherd puppies will pass proof of parentage with a DNA test administered through the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of California at Davis .
Temperament:
Temperament is determined by genetics and environment. When you receive your puppy it will have a sound temperament. To support this you will be presented with a copy of it's Volhard puppy test which will have been conducted by an independent tester. Since we have no control over the environment in which a puppy is raised, we cannot guarantee it's temperament.
Who picks your puppy?
We do! We are with these puppies 24/7 from birth and therefore become intimately acquainted with their temperaments. At approximately seven weeks old we have their temperaments assessed by a team of two independent temperament testers using the Volhard Puppy Aptitude Tests All puppies are placed in their new homes based on breeder observations, temperament test results and new owner preferences if possible i.e. male or female.

Deposit and Reservations:
First - call us for a chat. Do not send any deposits until we've had a good long chat and both feel comfortable with each other. This is going to be a long term relationship for the life of your puppy. Let's get to know each other, then if you feel you'd like to reserve a puppy from an upcoming litter you'll need to forward the following:
- Application form ( we will email one to you) if you prefer not to use the one on here or can't print it.
- Non-refundable $500 deposit - E-transfer or Bank Draft (Canada), Paypal (International or Canada) or US Cashier's Cheque

Upon receipt of these we will contact you again. When your puppy is born we will be in touch to confirm we have the gender of your choice available and to make arrangements for pick-up. Please note the price does NOT include shipping or kennels which may be required by the airline.
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY TO UNDERSTAND THE TERMS SURROUNDING YOUR DEPOSIT.
If you paid a deposit and the expected female does not conceive or the selection you made (male or female) is not available you may opt for A) Refund of your deposit B) Move your deposit to the next planned breeding - one time only. If you choose not to accept a puppy from the next available litter your deposit is forfeited.
Deposits are not refundable if you change your mind or go another breeder.
Deposits are not refundable if you choose to decline the puppy selected for you based on colour.
***IF, AFTER THE LITTER EVALUATION & VOLHARD TESTING, WE FEEL WE DO NOT HAVE A PUPPY WHO WOULD FIT INTO YOUR HOME WE WILL RETURN YOUR DEPOSIT. OUR PRIMARY CONCERN IS PLACING ALL OUR PUPPIES IN HOMES WHERE WE BELIEVE THEY WILL REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AND BE A GOOD MATCH.
